DownloadDr. New retired in 2012 from a 42 year career in secondary and higher education. He most recently served as Head of Upper School at Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis. The upper school grew rapidly during his 5 year tenure at Lausanne and made the transition to an IB World School offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. He also led efforts to establish a robust study abroad program and develop a vibrant Emerging Ethical Leaders Program. Prior to his work at Lausanne, he served as an upper school head at schools in Georgia and Texas. He also served as an Associate Director and Director with The College Board offices in Austin, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia working with the PSAT, SAT and Advanced Placement Program. During his career with the College Board, Dr. New worked with thousands of teachers, administrators and families while organizing and presenting informational programs on academic success. He also contributed to a research grant with the Southern Regional Education Board looking at whole school reform models for urban schools. His classroom experience was primarily during his tenure with the Plano Independent Schools in Plano, Texas. He taught social studies and served as Department Chair at Plano Senior High School for 17 years. He also taught U.S. History at the college level in Texas. He is the founder and director of Academic Leaders International and works with middle school, high school, and college students as an Academic Coach.
